Compute spectrum

Before use this feature, you need to import audio or movie file.

  1. Select Compute > Spectrum.
  2. Select a file.
  3. [Optional] Edit title of spectrum file.
  4. Change FFT parameters.
  5. Select one or more spectrum types.
  6. Select Compute.

You can use spectrum files in temporal visualization or timeline

Types of spectrum

FFT

This is the default FFT.

Stereophonic FFT

The spectrum is drawn in three colors:

  • Red: Left.
  • Yellow: Center.
  • Blue: Right.
  • Logarithmic FFT

Used to analyse pitched sounds. It is recommended to increase the size of the window to at 4096 and decrease the window step.

    Chromagram

Used to analyse pitch: A line for each of twelve pitches. It is recommended to increase the size of the window to at 4096 and decrease the window step.

    Differential FFT

Use the size of the window to determine the precision of the analysis. Difference is computed between two frames (window step is not used).

    Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs)

Use to analyse similarity between harmonic sounds. 12 or 13 coefficients are recommanded.
